(Japanese follows. /
When I was at Haneda Airport Terminal 2, I was looking for a placed to have late lunch.
There's a dining called Shinjuku Acacia on the 4th floor and their "Cabbage Rolls" seemed very famous and I went in.
Shinjuku Acacia opened in 1963 in Shinjuku and their specialty was cabbage roll stew (stuffed cabbage stew), and they've been serving the same flavor ever since.
There're some tables with 2 chairs but mostly the space was filled with counter table.
The rotation was quick at the counter and I was a solo-diner, so I only waited for 5 minutes or so to be seated.
Menu
I got a Kyabe-Haya listed in Half & Half, and it's served in a few minutes.
It's a one-plate dish served with the original cabbage roll stew and hayashi rice, which is hashed beef with rice.
Cabbage is Kyabetsu (キャベツ) in Japanese and Hayashi is what we call hashed beef, thus they named it Kyabe-Haya.
Comparison to my hand.
Hayashi Rice (Hashed Beef with Rice)
Hashed beef was very rich and it had sour tomato flavor and also had a hint of red wine taste.
Original Cabbage Roll Stew
The cabbage was so soft that I could easily cut it by a spoon without any pressure.
The meat inside was either pork or a mix of beef and pork, and it's juicy, tender and simply seasoned with salt, pepper and onions.
The cream stew was smooth and light, and it's creamier and richer than the ones I cook with consomme or tomato soup.
Kyabe-Haya: 1,000 yen (tax incl.)
Shinjuku Acacia /
4F, Haneda Airport Terminal 2
