A guidebook that I bought in Japan showed Egg in Brooklyn as a good breakfast/brunch restaurant and I heard they're opening on in Ikebukuro, Tokyo in April, 2017, and I was interested in going to that place for a while.
On Saturday, there're customers waiting outside when we got there a bit after 10:30 AM.
I entered inside and told my name and a number of the party, also added we're ok with table or counter, then the staff said it'd be about 15 - 20 minutes wait.
Customer-rotation was quite fast so that we're seated at the counter in 15 minutes as he said.
The walls were all white with beams and poles in brown, and the restaurant was bright and clean.
Menu
Specials were on the blackboard.
My husband ordered Egg Rothko and I had Pancakes.
Soon, a mini bowl of beignets was brought.
It looked like a boneless chicken and served cold.
Fluffy donut with sugar.
To receive dishes was fast, too, and they're reading in 10 minutes or so.
Egg Rothko
Easy-cooked egg in a slice of Amy's brioche, topped with Grafton cheddar.
Served with broiled tomatoes. Side of kale or choice of meat.
Amy's is a bakery called Amy's Bread and Grafton is a cheese maker in Vermont.
I thought the egg yolk might ooze out when we cut, but it's quite firm and only the cheese on top was melting and running down like lava.
Cheddar was so oily that we first thought it's gruyere, and the cheese prevented us from tasting brioche or egg.
I didn't have problem eating this dish even though I don't like egg yolks thanks to this assertive cheese.
Brioche itself was fluffy and soft, and I really wish I could taste the bread more.
Broiled tomatoes were mixed with onions and underneath, there's a cut-out bread that came from the brioche when they made a hole to put an egg in.
Only the reason my husband got kale as a side was that the choice of meat was all pork; ham, bacon and sausage.
If they say "meat," I wished they had had more varieties, other than pork.
Pancakes
3 organic pancakes with Vermont maple syrup.
The pancakes had dark brown colors on the surface and were large pancakes with more than 15cm (5.9 inch) in diameter.
Thin pancakes.
They're not buttermilk but simple pancakes.
The batter was lightly sweetened and they're soft but also chewier than I thought they would be.
Maple syrup was light and watery.

The prices weren't bad and the service was very fast, but I didn't think it's worth coming all the way to Brooklyn to have these food since nothing was so special or outstanding.
At tables, there're white papers as placing mat with crayons so that you can draw things while waiting, but at the counter, there's no such "amenity," FYI.

店内は白い壁と茶色の柱や梁で明るく、とても綺麗な印象。
メニュー
特別メニューは黒板に載っていた。
旦那はエッグロスコー、私はパンケーキを頼んだ。
すぐに小皿に入った一口サイズのドーナツが出された。
鳥の唐揚げのような形で、冷えた状態だった。
ふんわりとしていて、砂糖がかかっていた。
料理が出るのも早く、注文してから10分程度。

目玉焼き入りのエイミーズ ブリオッシュ、グラフトン チェダー乗せ。
焼いたトマト添え。ケールかお肉のサイド。
エイミーズとはエイミーズ ブレッドというお店、グラフトンはバーモント州のチーズ
テーブル席にはランチョンマットとして白い紙が敷いてあり、クレヨンもあるので待って
いる間に絵を描くことができるけれど、カウンターには設置されていない。

パンを切ると黄身がとろりと出てくるかと思ったけれど、黄身はしっかりと火が通って
いて、上に乗っていた溶けたチーズが溶岩のように流れただけだった。
チェダーはグリュイエールと思ったほど脂っこく、ブリオッシュや卵の味があまり
分からないほどだった。
黄身が苦手な私でさえ、主張の強いチーズの味で食べられたほど。
ブリオッシュはふんわりと柔らかく、もっとパンが味わえたら良かったと思った。
焼きトマトはタマネギも入っていて、その下には卵を入れる際にくり抜いたパンが敷いて
あった。
サイドに旦那がケールを選んだのは、お肉の種類が全て豚肉だったため。（ハム、
ベーコン、ソーセージ）
「お肉」と書いてあるなら、豚以外にも用意があると嬉しかった。
パンケーキ
オーガニック パンケーキ3枚とバーモント メープルシロップ。
焼き色が濃い目の、直径が15センチ以上ある大きなパンケーキ。
パンケーキは薄め。
バターミルクではなく、シンプルなパンケーキ。
生地はほんのり甘く、柔らかかったけれど、想像以上にもちっとした食感だった。
メープルシロップはサラッとしていた。
これまでに食べたパンケーキ： これまでに食べたパンケーキのリスト
チェダーはグリュイエールと思ったほど脂っこく、ブリオッシュや卵の味があまり
分からないほどだった。
黄身が苦手な私でさえ、主張の強いチーズの味で食べられたほど。
ブリオッシュはふんわりと柔らかく、もっとパンが味わえたら良かったと思った。
