Bokun Habanero 229 (Nin'niku)

At Family Mart, a conbini chain, I found a new "Bokun Habanero 229 (Nin'niku)" on February 20, 2016.
Bokun Habanero (Tryant Habanero) is a Tohato's snack using habanero, the hottest hot pepper approved by Guinness World Record.
First I had no idea what 229 was, but it had ruby to read as Nin'niku (Ni is one of the ways to pronounce 2 in Japanese and Ku is 9).
And nin'niku (ニンニク) means garlic in Japanese.
You can see the mini garlic across the package top and bottom.
It's made with black garlic, and the taste was described as "tasty and spicy garlic flavor."
And there's an image of the snack; black rings.
On the left, it says, "Garlic festival held once every 4 years!" in longways.
At the left bottom, there's a scale to show how spicy this snack is; 3 out of 5 habaneros.
On the back, there's is a clearer description about "229" and "once every 4 years."
229 (Nin'niku = garlic) is February 29 that comes every 4 year, which is a leap year = this year.
In the gold bubble, it says, "Garlic festival with habanero and black garlic!"
It had fragrant garlic scent when I opened the bag, and it's appetizing.
The ring-shaped snack had tiny and shallow channels, and it looked like a tire.
It had more than noticeable garlic scent, but there's no red powder that I see on regular Bokun Habanero.
I know how spicy Bokun Habanero is, and it's not that spicy to me but sure hot for some people who are not spicy food eaters, but it had strong garlic flavor and not much heat.
It definitely had spiciness of hot pepper, but not shockingly spicy, which was a bit disappointing.
The garlic flavor and the crispiness were very addictive and if it's a regular flavor, I'd keep buying this.
The strength of the garlic is not as bad as peperoncino, but it sure smells.
There's no info about this flavor, but I assume it's a limited time product.

2016年2月19日、ファミリーマートで「暴君ハバネロ229（ニンニク）」を見つけた。
暴君ハバネロは世界一辛いとギネス認定されたハバネロを使った、東ハトのお菓子。
最初は229が何か分からなかったけれど、ニンニクと振仮名があった。
袋の上下には小さなニンニクがデザインされていた。
「黒ニンニク使用」「ウマ辛ガーリック味」と書かれ、イメージ画像の黒い輪っか状の
お菓子が載っていた。
左側には縦書きで「4年に1度のニンニク祭じゃ！」と書かれていた。
左下には辛さの目安があり、5個のハバネロ中3個が色づいていた。
裏面には「229」と「4年に1度」に関して分りやすい説明があった。
229とは2月29日のことで、4年に1度とは閏年＝今年のことを指しているらしい。
金色の吹き出しには「黒ニンニク使用のハバネロでニンニク祭じゃ！」とあった。
袋を開けると香ばしく食欲をそそるニンニクの香りがした。
輪っか型のお菓子には小さくて浅い溝が付いていて、タイヤのようだった。
ニンニクの香りはかなり強く、通常の暴君ハバネロに見られる赤い粉末は見えなかった。
暴君ハバネロは確かに辛いけれど、そこまで激辛ではないと思う。
（辛い物が苦手な人には 結構辛く感じるとは思う）
それに比べて、この商品はニンニクの味が強くて辛さはほとんどなかった。
唐辛子の味はしたけれど、驚くほどの辛さがなくて少し物足りなかった。
ニンニクの味とサクサクした食感でついつい手が伸び、もしこれが通常フレーバーだった
ら、私は買い続けると思う。
ニンニクの香りはペペロンチーノほど強くはないものの、そこそこ臭う。
この商品に関する情報が見つからなかったけれど、多分期間限定商品。
