Chocolate Dessert And Drink At Juliette Et Chocolat In Montreal
チョコレートデザートを食べに、モントリオールにある「ジュリエット エ ショコラ」へ

My husband came to Montreal often enough to find decent to fast-food restaurants here.
Last night, after trying McDonald's poutine, we went out to have some dessert in "The Main," which is a nickname for the area where St. Laurent boulevard running north-south near the center of a city.

As I love sweets, he knew where he should take me to.
The chocolate shop is called "Juliette et Chocolat" and it's not a big chain but there're 3 shops in Montreal.

We arrived there before 9PM and saw about half of the shops was filled with customers.

We're led to a table and given English menus.
You can see the full menu on the HP, and the sections is "MMMMM..." (in English and French only)

It's always hard to decide what to get...

In the end, I decided to get "The Sundae" as a dessert and "White" to drink.

The Sundae
Vanilla ice cream, our famous brownies, strawberries and bananas, topped with whipped cream and melted chocolate.

White
I chose white chocolate drink with Classic Style
Classic Style; our Grandma's style chocolate mellowed with extra milk.

While waiting, I took some photos of the shop.
The interior was very simple and felt like I was at a dining in a house with a vast space and numerous table and chairs.

This is by the entrance, and they sell chocolates.

They had more interesting confectioneries, too.

First, drinks were brought.
This is my "White" with classic style.
It had sweet white chocolate scent.

Fluffy foam.

The cup I got was more like rice bowl, which was very interesting.

It was smooth and the foam was really fine and delicate.

"The Sundae" was much bigger than I thought.

The pancake-ish object was partially crispy and chewy, so I couldn't tell if it's supposed to be soft or  hard, or what it was.

The whipped cream on the top and the bottom was very light and it's far from the one used for a traditional shortcake, which tends to have heavier and thicker texture.
The texture of this whipped cream here was as if it's low-fat whipped cream squeezed from a can.
It was that light but it was suitable for this sundae with chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream.

Vanilla ice cream was yellowish and smooth, and had nice sweetness.
Strawberry slices were fresh.

The famous brownie with banana slices.
The brownie was so dense and chewy, but it melted away soon.
It had sweetness and also bitterness.
With bananas, the brownie tasted different.

They have crepes and my husband ordered Sugar Crepe and it was spread on the plate.
* You can choose with butter or not.

The surface was golden brown.
This big sheet of crepe had crispiness and softness with moisture.

旦那はモントリオールへ何度も出張で来ているため、
様々なジャンルの飲食店を知っている。
昨晩マックのプーティンを食べた後、デザートを食べに「メイン」と呼ばれる地域へ。
「メイン」とは、市中心部に近い、南北に走る St.Laurent 大通りを指す通称名。

行くお店は最初から決めていて、
チョコレートのドリンクやデザートの種類が沢山ある「ジュリエット エ ショコラ」。
* Juliette et Chocolat と書く。
大きなチェーン店ではないけれど、モントリオール市内に3店舗ある。

21時前に着いた所、店舗内の約半分は席が埋まっていた。
テーブルに案内され、英語のメニューをもらった。
全メニューはHPの 「MMMMM...」 で閲覧可能。（英語、フランス語のみ）

デザートを選ぶのは、いつも苦労する。
全部美味しそう。。。
迷った末、デザートにサンデー、飲み物はホワイトを注文。

サンデー
バニラアイス、お店自慢のブラウニー、いちご、バナナに
生クリームと溶かしたチョコレートをトッピングしたサンデー。

ホワイト
ホワイトチョコレートのホットココアで、私はクラシックスタイルを注文。
クラシックスタイルは、牛乳でのばし、まろやかにした飲み物。

待っている間に店内を撮影。
お店のインテリアはとてもシンプルで、ものすごく広く、テーブルと椅子が沢山ある
ダイニングにいるような気分。
入口近くのカウンターではチョコレート菓子が売られていて、
アボカドそっくりに仕上げられた物もあった。
この他にもユニークな形のチョコがあった。

まず飲み物が運ばれてきた。
「ホワイト」はフワフワの泡で、甘い香りがした。
カップは茶碗型で面白い。
きめ細かい泡が乗った滑らかなドリンク。

サンデーが思ったより大きかった。

上に乗っているパンケーキのような物体は、

カリッとした部分とぐにゃっとした部分があり、

固くあるべきなのか、柔らかいものであるべきなのかが分からず、

それ以前に何なのか分からなかった。

生クリームはショートケーキに使われているような重たいものではなく、

缶から出した低脂肪のホイップのような食感。

チョコレートブラウニーやバニラアイスが入っているサンデーなので、

このくらい軽い方がいい。

バニラアイスは少し黄色がかっていて、滑らかで、優しい甘さ。

いちごも新鮮だった。

ブラウニーは濃厚で、もっちりしていて、口の中で溶ける。

甘さと苦さがちょど良かった。

バナナと合わせて食べると、味が少し変わった。

旦那が注文したのは、「シュガークレープ」で、

お皿と同じ大きさに畳まれたクレープが出てきた。

* バターを乗せるかどうか選べる。

クレープは薄く、カリッと香ばしい焼き目と

ふんわりしっとりしていた。
