Broiled Sweet Corn Flavored Melting Pudding with Caramel Sauce made with Soy Sauce
なめらかプリン 「焼きとうもろこし風 たまり醤油カラメル」

Meito, one of the brands of Kyodo Milk Industry in Japan, launched a weird season limited pudding on June 24, 2013.
It's been almost a week but I luckily could find this pudding in a conbini near my house.

The flavor is Yaki Tomorokoshi (焼きとうもろこし), broiled sweet corn.
And the caramel sauce they put is made with Tamarijoyu, a type of soy sauce.

Yes, sounds disgusting, but I needed to try this.
This is the package and it's pretty small as the content is only 110g.

It clearly says "corn" and also images of corns in the middle.

I was curious if they only used some artificial flavor to make it taste like corn and like soy sauce, but on the label, corn and soy sauce are listed.

All the way around the plastic cup, it says the name of this pudding.

And also corn paintings and "soy sauce caramel" caption.

When I opened, it smelled like corn.
Not broiled corn flavor; no burned smell, but it only had sweet flavor as if it's corn cream soup.
The surface looked much whiter than regular puddings I'm used to having.

I licked the lid and it tasted like fresh made sweet corn cream soup!
*There's another corn soup flavored ice bar, Garigarikun, but it tasted different from that.

I tried white part (egg part) only, and it tasted just sweet corn, not pudding.

With the soy sauce based caramel, it still tasted like corn soup.
The caramel was sweet and didn't have any soy sauce flavor or taste however, they used it as a hint, so it's not necessarily coming out clear and bold.

My husband said it's too weird but for me, it was so interesting to have this extraordinary pudding.
And it's season limited and only 105 JPY, so trying this corn flavored pudding won't hurt you.
