In Israel, there're so many branches of "Aroma Coffee" but no Starbucks.
Mother-on-law said there're some Starbucks before but it didn't do well and disappeared, and according to Google Maps, the closet branch was in Jordan...

Aroma Coffee opened its first shop in Jerusalem, which was the first espresso bar in Israel, in 1994 by a 2 young men from Jerusalem.
In Hebrew, it's "ארומה אספרסו בר" and it's to read from right to left. 
The red letter "כשר" means kosher, and the white ones are "super strict, stringent" according to natives.

Kosher was written in English and Hebrew.

I don't drink coffee besides I was very sick that day, I had some carbonated beverage there.
And I had some Date Pastry ("מאפה פרג" in Hebrew) that mother-in-law bought.

It's a rolled bread cut into skinny pieces topped with powder sugar.
Between the layers, there're date paste and the texture of the bread was between croissant and a sandwich loaf.

Though sugar was sprinkled, it's not sugary sweet as the date itself is quite sweet.
However, the date had different sweetness from sugar and more flavorful.
Since the morning I consumed no solid food, and I could only try a mini bite, like a thumb nail size, this for an empty stomach, but I realized it's quite tasty.
As I found there're some in NYC, I'd love to try some more stuff when I'm in good condition.

ある。
義母によると、スターバックスも以前はあったけれど人気が出ず、撤退したらしい。
確かにGoogle マップによると、1番近いスターバックスはヨルダンだった。

アロマコーヒーのはエルサレム出身の若い男性2人が設立し、1994年にエルサレムで第一号
店が開店し、これはイスラエル初のエスプレッソバーだった。
ヘブライ語では「ארומה אספרסו בר」で、右から左に向かって読む。

私はコーヒーを飲まず、この日はかなり体調が悪かったので炭酸飲料を飲んだ。
義母の買ったデーツ ペーストリーを少し分けてもらい、食べてみた。
* デーツはナツメヤシの果実

折り畳まれたパンが細長く切られ、粉砂糖がかかっていた。
生地の間にはデーツのペーストが塗られ、パンはクロワッサンと食パンの間のような食感
だった。

砂糖が上にかかっていたけれど、あまり砂糖の甘さはなくデーツ自体の甘さが強かった。
デーツの甘味は砂糖とは異なり、もっと香りが良かった。
朝から固形物を何も食べておらず、親指の爪くらいの小さな欠片しか食べられなかった
ものの、美味しいのは分かった。
ニューヨーク市内にも数店舗あるようなので、体調が良い時に行って違うものも試して
みたい。
