Family Mart and Kabaya Foods Corporation collaborated and launched an ice cream called "Sakusaku Panda Ice Monaka" on September 9, 2014.

"Sakusaku" is an onomatopoeia of crispiness.
"Ice" means ice cream.
"Monaka" usually means bean-jam-filled wafer, but as this one doesn't contain bean jam, it's simply means the wafer outside.

Originally, "Sakusaku Panda (さくさくぱんだ)" was launched in 1996, of which year was the 50th anniversary of Kabaya Foods Corporation.
It's a panda shaped milk chocolate with crispy biscuit, and it's been popular among various generations.

This ice cream contains vanilla ice cream, chocolate and crunchy cookies between panda face wafer.

This is the face of the original character of Sakusaku Panda called "Saku-Pan," born in 2003.
Both sides had the same face.

It's about 3 - 4cm (1.2 - 1.6 inch) tall.

The wafer wasn't crisp but a little bit stale.
And like ordinary Monaka (wafer), it stuck on the upper jaw.

There're mainly vanilla ice cream, and upper side, there's amazingly thin chocolate sheet.
It's so papery that I couldn't feel I was biting into chocolate as there's almost no texture.

At the bottom, there's a thicker bar of chocolate with crispy cookies.
It's crunchy but thanks to the light cookies, the chocolate bar wasn't that hard despite the thickness.

It's a good size for a snack or even a dessert with light flavor and light textures.

パンダの形のミルクチョコレートに、“さくさく”食感のビスケットを合わせたチョコレートビスケット

2014年9月9日、ファミリーマートとカバヤ食品がコラボした「さくさくぱんだアイス
モナカ」が発売された。

「さくさくぱんだ」は、カバヤ食品設立50周年に当たる1996年に発売された、パンダの
形をしたミルクチョコレートにさくさくのビスケットを合わせたもの。

このアイスは、パンダの顔型のモナカの間にバニラアイス、チョコレート、サクサク
クッキーが挟まれている。
この顔は2003年に誕生したさくさくぱんだのオリジナルキャラクター「さくぱん」の顔。
両面とも同じ顔だった。

モナカはパリパリではなく、少し湿っていて、歯切れはあまり良くなかった。
ただ、普通のモナカ同様、上あごにくっつく感じ。

中身はほぼバニラアイスで、上部にはとても薄いチョコレートが入っていた。
紙のように薄いので、チョコレートを食べたと気がつかなかったほど。
下部には厚めのサクサククッキー入りの板チョコレートが入っていた。
軽いクッキーが入っていたので固くなりすぎず、厚みがあっても食べやすかった。

おやつやデザートにちょうど良いサイズで、あっさりした味と軽い食感で美味しかった。
