I saw a news about there's a cupcake ATM in NYC and I was so longing to give it a try.
The Cupcake ATM is build outside of a cupcake shop called "Sprinkles Cupcakes" and it's considered one of the first cupcake bakeries.
The original shop was established in Beverly Hills in 2005.
So you can actually go inside of the shop and buy cupcakes but it's too ordinary to get a cupcake, so I had no interest but the sugary ATM.
There're other ATM locations in the states; Beverly Hills, Chicago, Georgia, Las Vegas and Dallas.
You can purchase cupcake 24hr and when the cupcakes are baked, the shop staffs refill the ATM so you can get fresh ones.
And the ATM can hold cupcakes up to 600 pcs.

Today, I got there around 3PM and there're 5-6 people before me to use the ATM.
If you don't think too long which cupcake to get, it only takes 1-2 minutes per person.

I had no idea if it's easy to follow, so I asked the person in front of me if she's used this, then she said it's her first time too, and then, others in the line said the same.

I took a video how to buy a cupcake.
While I was using the ATM and videotaping, a kind woman offered me she'd take video for me, but I was already recording so I said thank you and managed to film it till the end.

1. Touch the screen to activate the system.
2. Choose a flavor and press + or - to decide the numbers of cupcakes.
3. Confirm the purchase by touching the price tag in green.
4. Swipe a credit card.
5. Wait for the cupcake is brought to the mini sliding door.
6. Grab the box and eat!

The weather was nice so I decided to eat in Central Park.
As the video showed, I bought a Lemon Cupcake, which uses California lemon juice topped with lemon-vanilla frosting.

The frosting had sugary rough texture and smooth part, so maybe the rough textured spots were a little bit dried?

The frosting was about 1.5cm (half inch) and very sweet.
It definitely had lemon flavor, but it's incredibly sweet.

The pink and yellow circles were crispy without any flavor.

The spongecake was soft, moist but also light.
I saw some lemon zest, but the frosting was too sweet to see any flavor in the spongecake.

In the end, I got very sick of the frosting, so I removed about 1/3 of the frosting.

It was a fun experience to use ATM and easy to get if you're just buying one.
But to see actual cupcakes and buy multiple ones, it'd make sense to go into the shop.
Next time I go there, I'd take a look inside.

ニューヨーク市内にカップケーキのATMができたとニュースで見て以来、ずっと行ってみたいと
思っていた。
そのカップケーキのATMは「スプリンクルズ・カップケーキ」というお店の外に設置してある。
スプリンクルズ・カップケーキは、初めてのカップケーキ専門店として知られていて、最初の店舗は
2005年にビバリーヒルズで開店した。
お店でカップケーキを買うことはもちろん可能だけれど、ATMの方が画期的なのであえてATMを
使ってカップケーキを買った。
カップケーキのATMはニューヨークに加えて、ビバリーヒルズ、シカゴ、ジョージア、ラスベガス、
そしてダラスにもある。
カップケーキは24時間購入することができ、ショップスタッフが焼き上がったカップケーキを補充
するので、新鮮なカップケーキを食べられる。
ATMは600箱まで収納可能。

ATMに15時頃着くと、5～6人が並んでいた。
あまり長い時間迷わずにカップケーキを選んだ場合、1人当たり1～2分程度で終わる。

簡単に操作できるか分からなかったので、前に並んでいた女性に利用したことがあるか聞いて
みたところ、彼女も使うのは初めてらしく、他の人も初めて使う人が多かった。

私の順番が来たので、ビデオを撮った。
操作しながら撮影していたので、見ず知らずのおばちゃんが「代わりに撮ろうか？」と言ってくれた。
ただ、もう撮影し始めていたのでお礼を言い、自分で最後まで撮影。

購入までの流れは以下の通り。
1. 画面に触れ、システムを稼働
2. フレーバーを選択し、 + か - を押して数を決定
3. 購入するなら緑色の値札を押す
4. クレジットカードを通す
5. カップケーキが小さな窓から出てくるのを待つ
6. 箱を取り、食べる

店舗の窓には色とりどりの丸が飾られていて、その色はカップケーキの上に乗っているものと
同じ色が使われている。

天気が良かったので、セントラルパークでカップケーキを食べた。

私が買ったレモンカップケーキは「カリフォルニアのレモン果汁を使い、レモンとバニラの
フロスティングが乗っているらしい。

フロスティングは砂糖のシャリシャリした部分と滑らかな部分があった。
もしかしたら、シャリシャリの部分は少し乾いていたのかも？
フロスティングの厚さは1.5センチほどで、かなり甘い。
レモンの味もするけれど、とにかく甘かった。

上に乗っていたピンクと黄色の丸は、味のないパリパリしたものだった。

カップケーキのスポンジ部分は柔らかく、しっとりし、軽い食感だった。
レモンの皮が入っていたけれど、フロスティングの甘さが強くてほとんど味が分からなかった。
最終的にはフロスティングに飽きたため、3分の1程度を取り除いた。

ATMを使ってカップケーキを買うというのはとても面白い経験だった。
ただ、実物を見たい場合や複数買う場合は、店舗に入る方が良いと思う。
次回は実際に店舗に入ってみたいと思う。
