Opry City Stage

(Japanese follows. /

We went to Opry City Stage back in February after seeing photos of good looking biscuits on the flags of Restaurant Week.
Opry City Stage is a multiple-story restaurant with live country music, located in Time Square.

First, we checked in at the first floor and took an elevator since we had a stroller but there's stairs, too.
And on the second floor, there's another reception.
As we made a reservation, we're led to the table fast and also we mentioned our stroller beforehand, things went smoothly.
(We're allowed to bring the detached seating section, but the base with wheels had to stay behind the reception desk.)

When there's no live performance, they're playing country music with videos.
My son, about 7 months, really enjoyed the live performance a lot.

Menu

Plate

Biscuit Basket
It's served with cinnamon butter and honey.

They smelled so good and heavenly.

The top and bottom were flaky and fragrant, and the inside was so moist and fluffy.

The biscuit was even better with sweet cinnamon butter & honey.
We ordered 3 dishes including this Biscuit Basket, and this is the best among them and I'd love to get this next time, too.

Edgehill Poutine
Tater tots, smoked sausage & pimento cheese.

I knew it wouldn't a real poutine from the description but we ordered one.
There're tater tots, small red potatoes, sliced jalapeños and sausage, topped with onions.

Between tater tots and potatoes, there's melty pimento cheese, but there's no cheese curds of course.
The BBQ sauce at the bottom was very rich and salty, and all those ingredients having absorbed the sauce tasted only BBQ sauce and made me very thirsty.
I wish the sauce had been less and this dish had more real poutine aspect like the name.

It's my 190th poutine.
Here is the list of the poutines I've had: A List Of Poutines I Have Had

Hot Chicken & Waffles
Brown sugar & cayenne.
The waffles were slightly burnt but batter of the fried chicken was very crunchy and crispy.
The brown sugar & cayenne was quite spicy and when I accidentally poured most of it, I regretted a lot.
The fried chicken had one of the best batter but it's mostly thigh and neither of us likes dark meat... I wished the menu had indicted it's thigh or had an option for breast meat.

The atmosphere and the live music were good, but the service was sow and the food was just ok.

Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich From Chick-Fil-A

(Japanese follows. /

Chick-Fil-A launched a limited time sandwich for the first time on May 15, and this Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich will be available till August 19, 2017.

The location at 46th & 6th Avenue didn't have any promotional item's poster outside so that I didn't know what it would look like, even I had to ask if this sandwich uses mayonnaise (because I hate mayo) when I placed my order.

In about 5 minutes, it's ready and handed by a staff.

The bun looked soft and had a cross on the top.

From the top, there're 2 bacon strips, Colby-Jack cheese, grilled chicken and lettuce between the bun.

Though it has "BBQ" in the name, there's no BBQ sauce and I have no idea why they call this as Smokehouse BBQ at all.

At least the bacon strips were crispy and crunchy.
Grilled chicken had some bite and also moist inside, and the bun was sweet like King's Hawaiian with some sort of buttery flavor, which could have been something they put on the upper bun unless it's just bacon fat.
Aftertaste was this buttery, sweet flavors and there's no aspect of BBQ; no smokiness, saltiness, tanginess or sweetness to it, and I felt it's a bullshit sandwich because the name doesn't match with the flavor, there's no BBQ flavor or whatsoever.

When I read the press release when I got home, it showed a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the bacon strips and the location we went to simply failed to put the sauce.
This sandwich was 7.29 dollars, not as combo, and I felt I just wasted time and money on this crap.
(When I contacted Chick-Fil-A, they only said, "We'll let the restaurant about this.")

We went to the branch on 46th & 6th Avenue, but this location only has a skinny counter table with about 15 chairs, and this restaurant doesn't provide enough space to eat.
Also, when you're in the line, there's no menu sheet to look at and they only have menus over the cash register so that unless you're regular or learn the menu beforehand via online, it's impossible to order smoothly.
The staffs were busy yelling at customers to get back while waiting the food in the waiting space but they didn't care those customers eating McDonald's at the table, so I don't think I'll come back to this specific location, besides they can't prepare items right.

Afternoon Tea At Harney & Sons SoHo

(Japanese follows. /

Fine tea brand Harney & Sons in SoHo has a cafe space and they serve afternoon tea, and as it's first-come, first-served basis, we visited around 1:30 PM on Sunday.

The tea lounge is in the far back.

When we got there, luckily half the space was empty so that we could sit right away.

Menu

There're about 10 tables with 2 chairs.

I think it's a fake flower.

When we saw the tea menu, I was pretty excited as there're so many choices and also Afternoon Tea For Two has multiple foods which all had "Selection of," so we're waiting for someone to come and take our order, but it took them for about good 10 minutes though it's not busy at all.
But the waiting time was just the prologue of our disappointing afternoon tea.

I chose Midsummer's Peach from decaffeinated selection, but the male staff didn't ask us which flavors we wanted for the afternoon tea nor ask if we had dietary restriction.

The cup was heavy.

It had sweet peach scent with light and refreshing black tea, and the base had subtle bitterness similar to earl grey and darjeeling.

Afternoon Tea For Two
The male staff just dropped this stand without any explanation and unfortunately, he gave us 2 vanilla scones and 2 chive scones while both sweet and savory kinds have 2 different flavors each.
A female staff was taking order of the couple next to us, and she's asking them if they had any allergy or were vegetarian, and when she brought the afternoon tea set, she specified what each item was and even gave them one vanilla and one cherry scone, the latter of which is summer special.

Top

Middle

Bottom

Cucumber Canapé

Salmon Canapé
Both cucumber and salmon canapés were on thin and crispy rice cracker, or something like that, and the light green stuff tasted like cream cheese.

Quiche

This mini warm quiche had mushrooms and arugula.
The pie was flakey and buttery and the egg was smooth, but I wish it's spinach and also a bite-size.

Cheddar & Chive Scone

It's served warm and had saltiness of cheese, and the cheese at the bottom was crispy.
The chives didn't have much oniony odor and it's unexpectedly tasty.

Honey mustard compound butter was served with the scone, but I don't like the flavor so that I didn't touch it.

Shortbread Cookies

Lavender

It's stinky-floral lavender flavored.

Earl Grey Supreme
It had very flavorful and relaxing earl grey scent.
Both were really crispy and the texture itself was nice.

Clotted Cream and Jam
The jam was supposed to be a choice of strawberry or blueberry, but needless to say, the staff didn't ask us. (Seriously, wtf?)

Vanilla Scone

It's served warm.

The outside was crispy and the inside was moist.
However, it didn't have any vanilla flavor.

Gluten-Free Burnt Sugar Caramel

Topped with burnt caramel sauce and buttercream, and the buttercream was so fatty and disgusting.
The cake was awkwardly dense and chewy as if they had compressed 1-foot tall cake into 1-inch height.

Lapsang Souchong

The topping was buttercream and candied bacons.
The cake was moist and a bit softer than Burnt Caramel and in the cake, there're some fruits close to fig.
The buttercream, needless to say, they're just "chunks of oil" and I wasn't a fan of candied bacons.
I thought the cake would have some tea flavor, but the buttercream and the bacons were overpowering so that I tasted none.

Macarons

Nutella

The surface was shiny gold and there's a thick pile of Nutella.

The shells were crispy and also chewy, and the Nutella was nutty.

Strawberry Smoothie

The filling was deported with different colors of pinks.

It's sugary sweet and I couldn't taste any strawberry.

When we paid, they gave us this little chocolate, Gavottes.

It's a dark chocolate coated rolled-up thin crepes inside.

Both the texture and the concept were same as Bouron Lumonde.
If they're not letting customers choose the flavors, they should rewrite the menu into, "Two XXX," leaving out the confusing and shady "Selection of."
We could choose 2 pots of tea, which has "Selection of" like foods so that I have no idea what's the definition the word they meant.
The pot was small and we thought they'd offer hot water to add, but the male staff never came back to our table while the female staff at the next table was pouring hot water to the pots, and we're really upset about this so-varied quality of service.
50 dollars before tax for 2 persons is a good deal, but the hospitality is quite different and based on your luck, including the waiting time, presentation and flavors, pretty much everything was disappointing.
It's one of those, "cheap and nasty" and "you get what you pay for," and I don't think we'd come back here.

A list of afternoon tea: A List Of Afternoon Tea I Have Been To
